Edward Hopper.  The Bootleggers.

We are so appreciative that you are traveling from far and wide to behold this beauty with us. It is the most important thing we've ever done!

IF By Airplane

To share in our evening, you may wish to compare flights into Boston, Massachusetts (1 hour , 45 minutes from Newport proper) as well as T.F. Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island  - which is more nearly in Warwick, Rhode Island (~35 minutes from Newport proper).

I have definitely taken a taxi from Providence to Newport, but Uber may provide a more suitable option if not renting  a car.

If By Boat

You can take a ferry from Providence (25 India Street) into Newport! One hour ride. $10 each way.  Runs once at 10 am, once at 2:30 pm daily weekdays,  and once at 9:30 am, once at 12:30 pm, and once at 3:30 pm weekends.  (Here's the catch: port is 20 minutes by car from "local" airport, so this falls more squarely into the novelty category.)

See Seastreak Ferry Routes here.

IF BY CAR

Alternatively, we have done the drive from Richmond (~8 hours) many times, and we will do it again!  Need not be too brave to take advantage of the flexibility of venturing by automobile.

IF BY TRAIN

I've looked into it and (from Richmond at least) I think you'd rather not in this instance. Trains get you as far as Westerly or Providence, but none into Newport directly.  Shuttle brings you from train station to port.  See  'IF BY BOAT' above.
